Wenn dann noch eines der schönsten bekannten Exemplare dieser Marke verkauft wird, schaut die philatelistisch interessierte Öffentlichkeit gebannt zu und alle fragen sich, zu welchem Preis das Los wohl zugeschlagen wird.



Der Käufer bezahlte für das gute Stück GB£ 90'000 + 20 % Aufgeld + 5 % Steuern, d.h. klar mehr als den vollen Katalogwert.

Dies ist ein weiterer schöner Erfolgsausweis für die Marke, die bei Haas an 10. Stelle gelistet war (1. Tabelle/reguläre Marken) und bei Schubert auf Platz 31.

12d. black, a spectacular used example in an intense deep colour and with full strong detailed impression on bright paper indicating that this was quite probably from an early impression of the plate, large to exceptionally large margins giving a well-balanced appearance and neatly cancelled with a single clear strike of the seven-ring target postmark.

An extraordinarily attractive and exceptionally fine example of this iconic classic high value rarity. One of the most desired stamps of the British Empire, this outstanding example having always been considered the finest known used example.
