Dear Rainer

The date time cachet 2 JAN 1923 / 407N (N = Nachmittag) is a Hamburg PUe cachet. I think the date is 2 JAN not 12 or 22 Jan as the colour of the date cachet on 2 Jan should be black, on 12 Jan should be red and on 22 Jan should be green.

I have not seen the red circular cachet with number 10 in the middle before. Hamburg PUe had the number 10. It appears to be diameter 15 or 16mm. Hamburg PUe did use circular inspector's cachets but the lowest number was 100 and the diameters were 21 or 22 mm. There were usually struck in purple. For a short time in 1921 Dec -1922 Feb, Hamburg used exchange control labels from other examination offices (eg Office 22 at Lauenburg and Office 26 intended for but not used at Trier) but here the old office number was overprinted by a circular cachet with 10 in the centre dia 14mm.

I suspect the red circular cachet with 10 is an office cachet from Hamburg (office number 10) and not an inspector's cachet.

I note beside the manuscript number 667 (which is probably a registration book number) that there is a signature and date 2/1 (meaning 2 January). You say the arrival postmark is 23 Jan 1923 so the letter was delayed nearly three weeks somewhere. The delay was probably at Hamburg PUe and this may explain the red circular cachet with 10 in the centre.

The date 30 NOV 1922 is curious but the airmail stamps appear to be cancelled 30 NOV at Medellin with the postage stamps cancelled DIC 5 922 at Barranquila. So why the delay between Medellin and Barranquila ? Was the aeroplane delayed ?

I hope this helps.
