"Washington June 8th 1838
Dear Martha
I received your Letter from […]
which gave me considerable alarm on account
of David; from what you write I was almost
indund to go home, but I should never see him
again; but I was glad to find your fear were
unfounded and that he is now in good health
going to school as usual – My health has been
restored so as to enable me to atten to my
public duties. I had a and very serious indisposition,
being confound to my room for about three months;
I am perfectly tired of this place and with my time was expired, I would then bid
formal to Political life, which to me is not
at all agreeable – I know not when we will
adjoin, but offset it about the 4th of July –
I enclose you five Dollar to by a frack for the
Babe - I have had Letter from Andrew, they
appears satisfied with their new home
- My respects to M. Ragan -
your dear
J.Buchanan"
